Research and education institutions

Østfold University College is state-owned and located in Halden and Fredrikstad with around 8,000 students and 650 employees. It has a broad portfolio of study programmes at all levels. Focus areas are the digital society and language in education. The university college participates in Erasmus+ and European research programmes and aims to expand this type of activity.

University of Inland Norway offers programmes at bachelor, master and doctoral level to 15,000 students at six campuses. The university has large research environments in areas such as plant biology and genetics, health and welfare research, regional social development and innovation, as well as sustainability and digitalisation.

NIVA is leading in the field of water and environment in Norway, and an expert in freshwater ecosystems. They develop solutions to challenges related to the interaction between water and climate, environment, nature, people, resources and society. NIVA participates in EU programmes and projects, also as a coordinator. 

OsloMet actively participates in European research programmes. The EU framework programme is important for achieving its strategic goals within research.
